THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
Two men were discussing football.
One said, "My grandson plays on the high school team."
The other asked, "What position does he play?"
The first answered, "Well, I'm not really sure. But, I think he's one of the DRAWBACKS!"

And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Observe that Peter says the righteous are "scarcely" saved!
The only "righteous" are those upon whom God has bestowed His gracious salvation.
For, to them Christ's righteousness is imputed.
But, even they are "scarcely" saved!
The work of salvation's offer is accomplished in Christ.
The work of salvation's continuance is performed by His Holy Spirit.
The work of salvation's completion is performed by Christ's second coming.
Were salvation not all and totally of God, none could ever be saved.
But the saved are also accountable for the maintenance of a willingness to be kept in Christ's "way."
For, Rom 14:10 (and 2Cor. 5:10) says, "...we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ."
And there, we shall "give an account to God" for how we have lived. (Rom. 14:12)
If we are indeed on the "team," let us not be "drawbacks!"
