THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

A salesman from Chicago was in Miami when he called his manager. He explained there were difficult circumstances. He said, "There's a hurricane here. All of the airports are closed, the airlines can't say when the next planes will fly. The highways are flooded, and the buses and trains aren't running. What shall I do?"
The boss answered immediately, "Start your vacation as of this morning."

John 16:15
All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

When a soldier is wounded in battle, he already knows there are hospitals to take care of him, but he needs someone to CARRY him there.
There are times of crises in our lives when all the precious promises of the Bible are of no help to our souls. We KNOW heaven is there, and that someday we'll be going, but we NEED Someone to help NOW. It is in those times that God's Holy Spirit APPLIES the special things of Christ to our hearts.
Perhaps you are in a time of distress today. God doesn't only give you His promises in the Word to READ; He draws near and SPEAKS them to you for comfort and encouragement.
He not only SPEAKS of peace, love, and joy, but He APPLIES them.
He not only SPEAKS of grace and mercy, but He APPLIES them.
He not only SPEAKS of hope, He APPLIES it.
Oh! Wonderful Spirit of God! How PERSONAL, how INTIMATE is His closeness!
We are soldiers in the army of God. We have a wonderful "manual of arms" to guide us in the battle.
But we also have a marvelous Commander, Who draws near when the battle is fierce.
He speaks sweet peace to our souls.
And He applies strength and encouragement for our benefit.
Ain't God GOOD?!
Love ya,
Bruce
