THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Maybe you have some children still at home. It seldom occurs to teenagers that someday they will know as little as their parents.
We can be young only once, but we can be immature indefinately.
A miser may be hard to live with, but he makes a good ancestor.

2 Cor 12:14
Behold, the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensome to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.

Some of us aren't wealthy enough to leave our children a vast inheritance of money and things. However all of us can leave our children a good inheritance.
Paul was on his way back to the church at Corinth. He wrote to them that he was not coming for any pay. He was coming to provide for them. His trip would provide education for the believers.
Then Paul wrote a principle in the above verse. That principle says that the parents ought to "lay up" (provide inheritance) for the children.
All of us can leave good things for our children. I thank the Lord that my earthly father has left: character, dependability, a hard work ethic, integrity, honesty, kindness, self-discipline, respect for others, and many other wonderful things.
But most of all, I thank the Lord, that my earthly father has left me a genuine respect for the Word of God, and for the God of the Bible Who is revealed in the Person of Jesus Christ.
The latter two "inheritance" factors have been what made America great. Had not our forefathers left us respect for God's Word, and respect for God Himself, we would not have had the other characteristics.
Thanks to my good friend Tony Perkins, President of Family Research Council, I have just learned of a new inheritance in our nation's capitol. In 1996, the teen pregnancy rate in Washington, DC was 164.5 per 1,000. But due to the abstinence policy of our President Bush and his wife, that rate has dropped to 64.5 per 1,000 today!
The values and moral priniciples of our political leaders is very important. Thanks to George and Laura Bush for stressing moral purity and risk avoidance! Their stand for God's Word will leave a lasting impression on our society.
Will we leave behind an inheritance of faithfulness to God and His Word?
Love ya,
Bruce
