THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

HI! The pharmacist and his wife worked together in the pharmacy.
One day, the pharmacist received a call. When he finished the call, he was laughing, and began to jump up and down, yelling "YIPPEE! YIPPEE!!"

His wife asked, "What's going on?"

He said, "Remember that plumber that charged us so high last winter when he came to fix our bathroom? Well, he's coming over to have a prescription filled!"

Gen 31:55
And early in the morning Laban rose up, and kissed his sons and his daughters, and blessed them: and Laban departed, and returned unto his place.

Now, there's a lot in the story ahead of this verse. One really needs to read Genesis 31:5-54. But here's a short description of the story.

First, Rachel and Leah agreed when Jacob told them God was calling the family away. When God calls a man, his family should be in agreement.

Second, Laban came angrily to Jacob because Rachel had stolen Laban's images. Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen them, and he handled the whole situation with grace.

Then, Jacob made Laban and his men a feast, and they offered a sacrifice to God together.

The next morning, Laban left peaceably.

What could have been an awful situation was averted by sitting down and talking together. Listening with mutual respect, and willingness to work things out will go a long way in reaching agreements.

God changed Jacob's fear, Rachel's deceipt, and Laban's pride into a peaceful situation.
THIS CAN STILL BE DONE TODAY!!

TOLERANCE is the lesson here. Jacob was running, Rachel was deceiving, Laban was irate, the family was arguing and envious, --- they all had big problems with sin.
But worship of God together brought them to agreement!

When we come together in the essentials of faith, then we can agree to disagree, and remain cooperative with one another in the application of faith.

True tolerance is letting people find happiness THEIR way, instead of MY way.

Love ya,
Bruce
