THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

Life is what happens to you while you're planning more important things.
Experience is a wonderful thing; it allows you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

Gen 47:7-10
7 And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
8 And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old art thou?
9 And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.
10 And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.

Pharoah gave a portion of the land, Goshen (a fertile hill country) for these Hebrews. Pharoah did not assign the land to the Hebrews, but he assigned the Hebrews to the land. They were to "sojourn" there, not be permanent.
So is our life here on earth. We are "assigned" here, not to be permanent!
Then Joseph brough Jacob to Pharoah and what transpired is very interesting.
Notice Jacob's description of his life. One hundred thirty years that were "few and evil." Few, meaning that he had not grown as old as his forefathers. Abraham had lived to be 175 years of age, and Isaac had lived to 189 years of age.
And Jacob referred to those days being "evil", meaning that the world deals misery to all men. (See. Ecc. 1:1-4, 5:15)
Jacob saw his whole life as a "pilgrimage." So should we!
Jacob prayed for Pharoah, and then left. Good Christians should pray for lost people. A lost person will believe your faith in Christ sincere, when you take them by the hand and genuinely pray for them.
And when we can do nothing else, we can pray for those in authority over us. In fact, we are implored to do so each day (1Timothy 2:1-4).
Jacob's considered his life a brief and uncertain journey. But he sought to be a true "ambassador" for Christ, and to make an impact on those around him whom he had opportunity to meet.
We have but a short time. Life is brief and uncertain. Then, we must meet God and give an account of this gift God has given us. Our life on earth is not permanent, it is but a brief time. And it is not sure when God will call us to leave this life.
Let us use our "pilgrimmage" as "ambassadors" for Christ to impact those around us.
Love ya,
Bruce
