Charlie Brown and Lucy were talking. Lucy said, "You know what I don't understand? Love!"
Charlie said, "Who does?"
Lucy said, "Explain love to me Charlie Brown."
Charlie said, "You can't explain love. I can recommend a book or poem, but I can't explain love."
Lucy said, "Well, TRY!"
Charlie said, "Well, suppose I see this really cute girl....."
Lucy, "Why does she have to be CUTE? Why can't she have freckles and a big nose? Can't anyone love a girl with freckles and a big nose?"
Charlie, "OK. So I see this girl with a really big nose...."
Lucy, "I didn't say REALLY big nose!!"
Charlie began to get up an leave and said, "Yup. Not only can ya not EXPLAIN love, ya can't even TALK about it!"

Rev 3:1-2
1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

Dr. G.T. Truett once preached a sermon on GOD'S GRACE. In that sermon he told the following story.
"The superintendent of a city cemetery lived in a small cottage just inside the cemetery gate. Through that gate all the funeral processions entered daily. Someone asked the cemetery superintendent, "Doesn't this daily scene of sadness get on your nerves and interfere with your sleep?"
The superintendent answered, "No. When I first began to work here, I often could not sleep. And when I did drop off to sleep, it was a fitful, restless sleep. But now, I have become so hardened to these things that I could lie down and sleep soundly among the tombstones!""
Then, Dr. Truett asked three questions of his congregation.
1st - Was there a time in your experience with Christ when the preaching of the simple gospel of the grace of God set aglow God's LOVE in your heart and made you dissatisfied with the smallness of your sacrifice and service for Christ?
2nd - Has the "spirit of the times" and the "cares of this world" blunted the once keen and sensitive edge you had for the things of God?
3rd - "Hast thou a name that thou livest and art DEAD?"
Too often we are sensitive to the world more than to the Word.
Too often we are sensitive to our desires more than to God's call.
Today, my dear Christian, determine to "strengthen the things which remain" of your love for Christ, and be SENSITIVE to His call upon your life.
Love ya,
Bruce
