THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!
((Thanks to James Wheeler for forwarding the joke!))

A young lady was leaving work one day, and a blizzard was really blowing.

She remembered some advice her father had given her, "If you ever get caught in a blizzard, wait 'till a snow plow comes by, and follow it."

She felt that she was being "favored," because a snow plow came by right away! She followed it, and was thinking smugly to herself, "I'm not going to have any trouble with this blizzard."

Then the snow plow stopped. The driver got out and came back to her car, signalling for her to open the window. He wanted to know if she was alright.

She told him why she was following him. He said, "Well, that's ok with me. But I'm finished with the Wal Mart parking lot now, and I'm going across the street to the Target parking lot."

Luke 9:23-24
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
(KJV)

Dad took me "night fishing" on a lake I'd never been on. We went far out into the lake, and being unfamiliar with the area, I got sort of turned around.

I asked Dad how we were going to find our way back to the dock. He said, "We'll just go toward the light." I looked around and there were many lights on the shore. So I asked him how he knew WHICH light. He said, "Look UP not OUT." Then he showed me which star to look for.

Life is dark without the light of Christ, and we all follow BAD advice at times.

The BEST advice is to look UP, and follow the light of Christ. Jesus KNEW where He was going! He was going THROUGH the cross and tomb to glory! And only HE knows the WAY!

It is to the hazard of our souls if we look toward the world for eternal salvation. We must look UP to Christ, and follow Him. The way of His salvation leads through the difficulties of the world to glory!

Sometimes that means picking up crosses that are in the way, and carrying them along. Crosses like sickness, accidents, lost jobs, etc. What's YOUR cross today? Pick it up, and follow Jesus!

Someone might ask, "How do I know I'm FOLLOWING Jesus?" Study the Bible, see Christ in it. Learn the principles and truths, and make decisions according to what CHRIST says.

Love ya,

In ourselves, we don't even know enough to tell God what we want. But the Bible will certainly tell us what God wants (see 1Corinthians 2:16).
