THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Dad was quite surprised when he walked into the back yard and saw his seven-year-old daughter brushing the dog's teeth with HIS toothbrush!

Immediately she said, "Don't worry Dad. I always wash it out before I put it back!"

Ps 51:14-17
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Sin is "bloodguiltiness."

In this psalm, of course, David is speaking of the murder of Bathsheba's husband. He did not perform the act himself, nevertheless, he was guilty of the blood. He CAUSED it to happen. We did not perform the act of crucifixion physically, but our sin caused it to happen. We are guilty of our Savior's blood.

Sin carries with it a stench that only God can quench. We can not make it smell any better by calling it "shortcomings," or "failures." It still STINKS! Call it what it is: SIN!

We must feel REMORSE for the sins which crucified our Savior. When we are conscious of the heinousness of our sins, our hearts are broken. When broken hearts are felt they are shown. The pain on the inside brings tears on the outside.

We must CONFESS those sins openly by name before our Lord. It is not necessary to confess sins in public, but they must be confessed before our Lord in honest prayer. If we do not OWN our sin, God will not DISOWN them (see 1John 1:9)

We must PLEAD FORGIVENESS for our sins. THIS is a "broken spirit" and a "contrite heart." God does not "despise" that; and He is faithful to forgive.

When remorse is felt, confession is made, and forgiveness is pled, God forgives. Released! Unbound! Weight lifted! Stench quenched! And the realization of forgiveness causes us to "open my (our) lips" and give praise to our Lord!

There is no more wonderful way to enter a day than by having forgiveness from our Lord! Grace poured out! Mercy experienced! Heart relieved! Mouth open to PRAISE GOD!

Start your day by receiving forgiveness.

Love ya,
Bruce
