THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

There is a book called "Sports Quotes." In it are some very humorous quotes. One of them appears from Lou Holtz:

"I have a LIFETIME contract. That simply means that I cannot be fired during the third quarter if we're ahead and moving the ball."

Isa 53:12
12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
KJV

The SUBJECT of the verse above is the Messiah, Savior, Jesus, our Lord. He has completed the plan of salvation for mankind. He is given the "portion" with God, and is become the "Judge" of all men.

Because of His victory over Satan, sin and death, Jesus is given the right to all the "spoils" of the war. And He "shall divide" the spoils with the "strong." But the Bible says of mankind there are NONE who seek God, and ALL have sinned and come short of God's glory.

However, Jesus was "numbered with the transgressors;" and He took our sins with Him to the cross of Calvary. There He "bare" (carried) our sins away. And now He makes "intercession" for we sinners.

In His active righteousness, Christ honored all the law and was "without sin." He stated that He did not come to destroy the law, but to FULFILL it.

In His passive righteousness, Christ endured the suffering and the consequences of sin for our sakes. He endured the agony in Gethsemane. He endured the mock trial, beatings, and even the cross itself. And he suffered the wrath of God vicariously for you and me. He did all this in order to be "numbered with the transgressors."

Hear, o my soul, and hear all men: NONE of Christ's work will be accounted for our sakes unless we surrender to Him and confess Him as our Lord.

But hear also, that when we are accepted by Christ we are accounted before God as the "strong" and shall receive the "spoils" of Christ's victory. Those spoils shall be to live WITHOUT sin and WITH God forever!

What a WONDERFUL SAVIOR!

Love ya,
Bruce
