THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><>

Once some vandals cut down six royal palms along Miami's Flagler Street. Since the palms are very expensive, Dade County authorities weren't sure if they could replace them very soon.

But then someone donated six more and even had them put in. The old palms had been 15 feet high and provided a nice foreground for a "Fly Delta" billboard.

The new palms were 35 feet high and completely hid the billboard. The donor of the new palms was another airline.

1 Sam 17:45
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

Others considered Goliath and undefeatable foe. They stood around with their hands in their pockets thinking about war, talking about war, but never facing the enemy.

David considered Goliath another opposition to be met in the normal struggles of life. As long as he faced that opposition with his Lord, things would work out "OK."

This Scriptures challenges us:
To BE a Christian in our thinking, speaking and actions;
To DO Christian things, read our Bibles, pray, attend, be involved;
To be a Christian SERVANT accepting a place to work, making sacrifices to serve, and continue when facing opposition.

If we are truly saved, we are called and propelled to live for and with Christ. That includes facing opposition to Christian causes in the correct manner. Opposition ALWAYS calls for prayerful consideration. And SOMETIMES (more often than we think) it requires ACTION.

Let this Scripture challenge you today to be more involved in the purposes of Christ. And as my friend Bro. Shane Duke says, "Keep PRESSING ON!"

Love ya,

Sometimes, what it takes to rise higher in the Christian faith is a powerful enemy!
