THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
<><><><><>
1903 - 2003 is the span of time that Bob Hope lived. What changes have occured in our country during just his life time?
In 1903 only 14% of the homes in the country had bathtubs.
In 1903 only 8% of the homes in the country had telephones.
There were only 8,000 cars and 144 miles of paved roads in the whole country.
The average wage was 22 cents per hour.
95% of all births took place in the home.
The population of Las Vegas, Nevada was 30!
Only 230 murders were reported in the whole country!
One out of ten US citizens couldn't read and write.
Only 6% of US citizens graduated high school.
To be "gay" meant to be happy, and homosexualism was illegal.
To have children was a blessing and abortion was illegal.
Gambling was a "vice," not a recreation.

2 Tim 3:1-5
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
(KJV)

What a difference a century makes!
During the previous century the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been preached over radio and TV throughout the whole world. One would think that with such preaching and teaching of the gospel that men would be the BETTER for it!
However, God warns us through Paul's writing that there are "perilous times" even in the propagation of the gospel. You will note in the text for today that "perilous times" come because of the attitudes of men.
Our Lord, Jesus Himself warned (Matthew 24) that the "gospel times" would also be filled with "perilous times."
According to 2Peter 2:2, men of "pernicious" ways (wanton ways) will speak evil of the gospel.
Never has there been more preaching and teaching of the gospel.
But never has there been more who spoke "evil" of the gospel.
These are "perilous" times! There are those in the news media who tout Christianity as a faith for illiterates and weaklings. But there are also "wolves in sheeps clothing" preaching from pulpits that we have an impure Bible. These are the ones from whom we must "turn away." For they are the ones which have a "form of godliness" but are "denying the power thereof."
Love ya,

Matt 22:29
"Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God."
