THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
The teacher asked her class what each wanted to become when they grew up. "President," "fireman," and "teacher" were stated often. But when it became Billy's turn, he said, "possible."
The teacher asked, "Why would you say "possible?""
Billy said, "Well, my Mom is always telling me I'm IMpossible. When I grow up, I just want to become possible."

Gen 17:5-7
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
15 And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.

The name Abram means high father. The name Abraham means father of a great multitude.
The name Sarai means my princess. The name Sarah means princess of the multitude.
God changed their names to reflect the promise of His covenant.
Christian, have you ever considered that?
When you believed Christ is Lord, and surrendered to His Lordship, you received a NEW NAME (Revelation 2:17, 3:12). We may not know that name yet, but today we are known by the name
CHRISTIAN.
The word Christian means follower of Christ. That name was first used in Acts 11:26 as a derogatory term for those who professed Christ as Lord. "..And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."
They were always getting together and would pray, teach and preach Christ. And they were teaching many other people about Christ. The term Christian reflected the promise of God made through Christ - a resurrection.
Christians have been born again to a "lively hope" and we are assured of an "inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven" (1Peter 1:3-4). We are "kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." (1Peter 1:5)
Christian, does your life reflect your NAME?
Love ya,
Bruce
