THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

A young bride took her husband's check to the cashier at the bank. She wanted to cash it.

The teller told her, "You will need an endorsement on the check." So she wrote, "My husband is a wonderful man" on the back of the check and gave it back to the teller.

Ruth 2:4-7
4 And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.
5 Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?
6 And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:
7 And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.

THOUGHT______________________________________________________________________

First, let us notice the character of Boaz. He was the owner, but when he came to the fields, he greeted the workers with "The LORD be WITH you!" Then they answered Boaz with, "The LORD BLESS thee!"

I pray that all Christian supervisors have this type relationship with their workers today. And that their character is NOTICED.

Now, let us notice the character of Ruth. When Boaz came to the fields to see how the harvest was coming along, he noticed Ruth. Maybe he noticed her because she was a Moabite, and he wanted to know why she was allowed the privilege of gleaning in his field. I prefer to think he noticed that; but also he noticed she was very attractive. After all, this IS a romantic epic!

Boaz called the foreman and asked who she was. The foreman told him this was Naomi's daughter-in-law.

The foreman also told of Ruth's CHARACTER. Obviously her beauty was not the ONLY reason for her attractiveness. Good character is attractive.

The foreman said that Ruth had ASKED if she might glean there. And when she was given that privilege, she worked from early morning even up to the present time.

Good character is noticed. Beauty is NOT only skin deep! Real beauty is displayed in CHARACTER. Ruth shows real beauty in respect for others and in honest work.

May we Christians also display this kind of beauty for our Lord, Jesus.

Love ya,
Bruce
