THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

This one is old, but it suits the purpose.
Read the devotion to the end, and you'll see.

If a dead frog is on the lily pad in the middle of the pond, to which side will he jump?

X Dead frogs don't jump! X

Children are a precious and beautiful gift from God. Psalm 127:3 says, "children are an heritage of the LORD."

Along with this "gift" comes a tremendous responsibility.
"6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." (Deut 6:6-7)

Sometimes, along with this "gift" comes severe anxiety. Proverbs 22:15 says, "Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him."
Many a parent can testify to the fact that children at times can bring both bitterness and joy!

Not only do we have to be concerned for the "foolishness" of our own children, but for others that might influence them. Josh 22:25 reminds us that others who don't know the Lord might lead them astray. "Ye have no part in the Lord; so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the LORD."

Therefore, it is imperative that we "suffer" them to be brought to Jesus. The Greek word for "suffer" is aphiemi, which literally means "send forth." That word does not mean allow, it means usher!

Yes, children are a precious and beautiful gift.
Along with that gift comes a tremendous responsibility.

So, introduce them to the Bible.
Teach it diligently to them.
While they are young, be sure they attend church WITH you.
And never cease to pray for them as long as you and they have breath!

Love ya,
Bruce
