Just as God says our only inheritance is holding onto Him, He also states that we are HIS inheritance! Meditate on that!
God has chosen us as His own. We have done nothing of goodness or righteousness to deserve His choice of our person. Jesus said, "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you.." (John 15:16). When we were on the road to hell, God came to intervene. We are His by Divine Election.
God has purchased us by His own choice. We are redeemed not with "corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:" (1 Peter 1:18-19). When we were still sinners, Christ died for the ungodly. Our Lord GAVE Himself for His "sheep.
We are God's by conquest. When we could not fight the battle against Satan and sin, Christ fought and won the victory on our behalf. "Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive : thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them." (Ps 68:18).
Not only did Christ fight the battle against Satan and sin, but also against our own hearts!
How OFTEN He stood at the door (Rev. 3:20) of our hearts to plead! How OFTEN He sent messengers to explain! Therefore, He not only conquered Satan and sin, but OURSELVES!
We are the chosen, purchased and fought for INHERITANCE of God!
