Heb 12:1-2
12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

In every Christian's life, the goal is to be "set down" at the feet of Christ, Who is in the place of power at the throne of God.
The writer of Hebrews tells us that in order to do this, we must first keep our eyes FIXED on Christ and his life. We should purposefully view His character and exhibit the same characteristics in our lives.
Secondly, the Hebrew writer tells us there have been many "witnesses" who have lived such lives. And we should want to leave a "witness" behind that tells others we lived for Christ.
We should consider life as a "race," laying aside anything that detours us, and keeping our eyes on the goal. There are several characteristic traits that be shown in such a life.
If we are truly seeking the goal, let us develop the characteristics.
