THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Two men in the nursing home were being a little "testy" with one another.
"How old are you?"
"I'm a hundred!"
"Well, you won't see another hundred."
"Hmph! I'm stronger now than when I started the first hundred!"

Ps 104:16
16 The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;

There's an old song that indicates the strength God puts in the Christian.
"Jesus is my Savior, I shall not be moved.
In His love and favor, I shall not be moved.
Just like a tree, that's planted by the waters,
I shall not be moved.
In His love I'm hiding, I shall not be moved.
In His Word abiding, I shall not be moved.
Just like a tree that's planted by the waters,
I shall not be moved."

The strenth of the huge trees symbolize the Christian in several ways.

First, we are planted by God, and not by ourselves. God created, called, convicted, convinced and compelled us into Christ. We are nothing on our own. Salvation is of the Lord, not of man.

Second, our sustenance comes from God. We are "full of sap" from the Lord. We stand solely upon The Rock of Christ. We are given the water of His Holy Spirit, and the food of His Word daily.

Third, we are protected by our Lord. We are certainly exposed to the difficulties of life. The winds and storms of life blow. But God has planted us firmly in the "shadow of His wings."

The Christian, like the huge trees, owes the strength of his being to the Lord.
We are planted, sustained, and protected by the Lord.
We are OF the Lord, let us live FOR the Lord.

"The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him." (Ex 15:2)

Love ya,
