THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
<><><><><>
In the early 1800's, a man was about to leave on a trip. He would be gone several weeks. Approaching the door with his back pack, he leaned over to kiss his wife good-bye.
She said, "Jake, do you mean you're going on a trip and you ain't gonna cut no firewood first?"
He looked at her and said, "Honey. I'm not TAKIN' the AXE!"

Matt 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

"The Great Comission" is a CO-MISSION assignment from God to His disciples. It is not a suggestion, it is a command; it is not a request, it is a commissioning assignment to believers as ambassadors for King Jesus!
Believers in Christ have a unique relationship and a unique assignment.
We are saved BY grace, THROUGH faith, IN Christ alone.
We are indwelt by God's Holy Spirit.
We are taught by God's Holy Spirit as we study God's Word.
We are enabled, gifted and empowered by God's Holy Spirit for the work assignment He has given.
We have all the POWER we need to see the assignment done!
As such we are CO-workers on MISSION for Christ. Jesus came into the world to "save sinners." It was His MISSION. Now it is the CO-mission of all believers.
(See 2Corinthians 5:17-21)
Now the problem with churches is not that we have too few members; but we have too few ministers.
I am thoroughly convinced that if only 1/2 of the evangelical church members in the USA were to awaken to God's CO-MISSION, and take discipleship seriously, that this world would be RADICALLY changed in a few short years!!
Who do you know that needs Jesus?
Are you praying for them daily?
Have you made an appointment with them to talk about Jesus?
King Jesus has gone on a trip. He'll be returning soon.
But He left the AXE!! Are you chopping wood?
Love ya,
Bruce

Perhaps the most under-taught, yet over-needed doctrine is the "Doctrine of the Laity!" (BDM)
