THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><>

The pastor ran an ad in the local newspaper for a caretaker/housekeeper. The next day a nice-looking young man rang the door bell just as the pastor was about to leave.

The young man said, "Hi, I came to see about...."

The pastor was in a hurry, so he interrupted the young man by saying, "Come in!" While directing the young man quickly to the living room, the pastor began to ask some questions: "Can you sweep, mop, wash clothes, Iron, prepare meals, run errands and generally take care of two children?"

The young man stopped dead in his tracks, and said, "WOAH! I just came to ask about getting MARRIED; but if it's THAT much trouble FORGET IT!"

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(KJV)

Perhaps the most quoted verse of Scripture in the Bible tells us about God's COMMITMENT, and about OUR commitment.

Marriage is about commitment, and NOT infatuation! Too many marriages fail today because they are founded upon an infatuation, not a commitment.

Salvation from sin is about commitment. "For God SO loved the world that He GAVE ..." God's love is demonstrated through His commitment. Jesus came into the world to live a perfect life as a man and die on a cruel cross for our sins, so that He could OFFER us eternal life with Him! THAT'S COMMITMENT!

The marriage contract with Christ is based on commitment. God's commitment is displayed so that OUR commitment might be displayed. "....that whosoever BELIEVETH in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." The word "believeth" means to cling to.

It takes TWO to make a contract. God has demonstrated His commitment for salvation.

Is your contract with Christ based on infatuation or commitment? Are you demonstrating your commitment?

Love ya,

Rom 5:8
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
