THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><>

On a cold rainy night, the telephone rang in the home of a doctor. The caller identified himself and said that his wife needed urgent medical attention. The doctor was understanding and said that he was willing to come and attend to her needs, but explained that his car was being repaired and asked that the man come and pick him up.

The man said, "WHAT? In THIS weather?"

Matt 15:32-38
32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. 33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude? 34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. 35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. 36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. 37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full. 38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

You'll notice in the Scripture above that it was Jesus' compassion that called for His commitment.

Jesus fed 4,000 people with only 7 biscuits and a few little fish. That was a tremendous miracle that only God could perform!

There are somewhere close to 300 million people in the USA. About 120 million of them do not know Christ as Lord and Savior. There are nearly 8 billion people in the world. Over 6 billion do not know Christ as Lord and Savior. They need to be FED the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The church still has the power of Christ to perform the miracle! What it takes is compassion and commitment.

In his book "The Purpose Driven Church," Rick Warren makes the following statement.

"Jesus' ministry included ministering to the Community, feeding the Crowd, gathering a Congregation, challenging the Committed, and discipling the Core."

All five of these tasks are assigned to the church today. Jesus still supplies the power, we just supply the doing.

Let us have compassion for those who are not FED the Gospel.
Let us be committed to loving them into Christ.

Love ya,
Bruce
