THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><>

Once I preached on the following text, and used an example about smiling as we speak. A lady came to me after the service and reminded me that it took 26 muscles to smile, not 13 as I had said. Oh, well, I'm used to be corrected!

But by my calculations, which have proven to be wrong before, that's still 4 times LESS tiring than frowning, which takes 126 muscles!

1 Cor 2:1-2
1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

I remember very well the gracious Christian lady who taught English IV in our High School. She taught us how important it was to utilize good grammar. But more importantly, she taught us to communicate. Here are four basic rules:

  1. Say it on the feeling level. People tend to receive communications on the feeling level. If your subject isn't interesting to you, then it will not be interesting to others.
  2. Express your thought accurately. It is very difficult to correctly transfer the idea in your mind to someone else's mind.
  3. Smile. People do not listen to a boring face.
  4. Keep your communications clean. Interest in the subject is lost in filthy language.

Paul was a very educated man. He could have "wowed" the people of Corinth with beautiful oration. Instead, Paul came with a simple message: "Christ was CRUCIFIED for your sake."

The Righteous One died so that we might inherit His righteousness.
The Sinless One died for sinners to be set free.
The Holy One died to make atonement for the unholy.

Now, with all the good grammar I can muster, I ask, "Ain't God GOOD?!"

Love ya,

Be "fishers of men." You catch 'em, He'll clean 'em!
