"Timing is everything," said Mark Twain, "It's good sportsmanship not to pick up lost golf balls while they are still rolling."

Heb 12:1-2
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith ; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Distractions are the enemy of concentration.
Can you imagine the need for concentration in a pro golfer? There are hundreds, maybe thousands of people standing around. Each movement catches their eye. Hundreds of thoughts fill their minds as they try to just concentrate.
Life, for the Christian, is similar. There are many distractions from just as many directions. Sometimes it's hard to concentrate on the main purpose of our living.
The old devil tries to distract us. He tries to deceive us with things of the world that seem attractive.
Our own minds distract us. We spend a lot of time thinking about how things should be, or could be.
Our own bodies distract us. There are many wants that we desire to claim as needs.
Our spirits distract us. We want to be the controller of our lives, rather than allowing Christ to dictate our directions and decisions.
There are many other distractions: problems at work, personal relationships, accidents, illnesses, etc. These things crowd our minds and distract us from the main point of concentrating to live for Christ.
Yes. We will indeed have all those distractions, and more, as a part of our lives. But we are to focus on "..Jesus, the Author and Finisher" of our faith. We are to "lay aside every weight" of life for this purpose: to glorify Christ, to serve Him, and to share His wonderful salvation with others.
And let us particularly lay aside "THE sin which doth so easily beset us." THAT sin is unfaith. Faith is clinging to Christ; unfaith is not clinging to Christ.
Today, let us have patience in the midst of our distractions, difficulties, and problems which are part of the race that is set before us.
And let us determine to concentrate on our main purpose.
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:" (2 Cor 9:8)
