THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

A father was teaching his son what a Christian should be like. When the lesson was over, the father received a question which he never forgot.

The son looked up at his dad and asked, "Dad, have I ever MET one of these Christians?"

Prov 8:29
When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

Oh! The consistency of the sea! How it marvelously obeys the "commandment" of God! When God "appointed the foundations of the earth," He said to the sea, "Thus far shalt thou go, and no farther."

The sea, in genuine obedience, responds to the command of God. It ebbs and flows with constant regularity. God has placed a guard upon the sea: the moon and gravitational forces. And the sea, in willing response to the circular pattern of the moon, always moves within the borders of God's command.

Oh! That we Christians might so easily be restrained! Oh! That we might earnestly listen to His command, and answer according to His will!

God has also placed a guard upon Christians. That guard is His Holy Spirit and His Holy Word.

Yet it seems that we do not listen to God's commandments and take them as absolute guidelines for our decision-making. And how often to we genuinely seek God's will through prayer, listening for His Holy Spirit's answer. And we very seldom obey God's command to "GO" and tell others of His marvelous grace.

Every molecule of the sea responds to God's command. The sea can always be found in the same place; beating on the same cliffs, ebbing and flowing on the same shores. It is a picture of consitency, and "in tune" with the commandments of God.

Pray this prayer if you dare:

"O, Lord, let me be a picture of consitency as the sea.
May others always find me where you have placed me:
IN Christ,
IN the Word,
IN prayer,
IN church,
and GOING to tell others."

Love ya,
Bruce
