THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Did you ever notice that the only time a car's windshield wiper works perfectly is when it's holding a parking ticket?

Peter's third denial was accompanied with swearing.
God's Holy Spirit was with him, and convicted him of the sin.
Immediately, he ran away from people and "wept bitterly!"

God's grace does a perfect work in convicting believers of sin.
His conviction melts our hearts, and brings tears of sorrow.

Surely he questioned himself, "HOW could I DO that?!" He had been the one to whom God had specifically revealed Jesus as CHRIST (See Matthew 16:16-19). To him, Jesus had promised that this confession of faith would be the "rock" upon which the church would be built and stand. Peter had been present when Jesus was transfigured (See Matthew 17:1-2). How could he do this?

But he did! He did not WANT to be maligned, ill-spoken of, or slandered by malicious gossip. And of course, he didn't want to DIE!

How many have maintained silence, instead of openly professing Christ, when they faced being called "good two shoes," "do gooder," or some other denegrating name?

Well, it is sure that if any have done so, and really KNEW Christ, they felt the SAME THING PETER FELT! GUILTINESS! CONVICTION!!

Oh Lord, when You convict me of sin, may my sorrow and repentance be shown with many tears!

Love ya,
Bruce
