THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Richard J. Needham once said, "Many of those who cry so loudly for justice would beg for mercy if justice were done to them.

Anthony Evans, a Sunday School teacher, told a story about Jesus' arrest, trial and crucifixion. The students were giving her their undivided attention. Even little Michael, who was usually hard to keep still, was listening.

When the lesson was finished, Evans asked for questions. Michael's hand shot into the air and the teacher was quite surprised.

When called on, Michael asked increduly, "And just where were all the state police while this was going on?!?!"

Gen 19:15-16
15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

Lot's two daughters, that were with him now in the house, were saved. The night before, the angels had instructed Lot to go and get his daughters and sons-in-law. The daughters came, but the sons-in-law wouldn't.

Now see how Lot tarried at leaving? The angels had to physically hurry him. Does the comfort of the "Devil's highway" keep some people from entering God's "straight and narrow" path? Jesus said, "...wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat ...strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." (Matt. 7:13-14)

OH! How the devil makes life seem EASY! He makes compromise and personal preferences look soooo good! God never promised it would be easy to choose right over wrong! He DID promise to be with us and help us!

If we are convicted of God's truths, we will choose to live by them and in them. The Bible says, "the just shall live by his faith." (Hab 2:4) We may prefer to walk the "easy path," but convictions will not be changed. David was referring to this when he said, "I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness." (Ps 84:10)

It is better to be in the lowest of places in God's house than to be in the highest of places with the devil!

Remember: a preference is something you may change; but a conviction is something you won't even consider changing!

Love ya,
