The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

The Hebrew word for "simple" is pethiy (peth ee'), which means of simple mind or easily seducible. And the Hebrew for "folly" is 'ivveleth (iv veh' leth), which means foolishness. Thus, rereading the passage, and substituing, "The easily seducible inherit foolishness."
Was it not so with Adam and Eve? Were they not seduced into inheriting the foolishness of sin rather than the wisdom of obedience? Did they not pass this on to each of us? So we must realize that ALL of us have somewhat of a seducible nature, and easily grasp foolishness.
Is that perhaps what makes watching TV become a habit? And is it not dangerous to our mental health? One must admit, most TV serial shows are full of foolishness! If we habitually spend hours each day watching those shows, then we mentally inherit the foolishness of foolishness! For instance, little Johnny equated numbers with networks!
On an opposite note, the Hebrew word for "prudent" is `aruwm (aw-room'), which means cunning or crafty. The cunning may have the nature of easy seduction, but they guard against it. Instead, they seek "knowledge." They are ambitious of knowledge, disciplining themselves in order to attain it.
Because the self-disciplined seeks wisdom and knowledge, he/she is sought of others for that wisdom and knowledge. They are "crowned" with it, and are respected because of it.
I believe there's a dual message here:
Get out of the TV and into the WORD!
Get off the couch and into the CHURCH!
