In Rev 13:8 Jesus is called, "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world."
He is also called "Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty." (Rev 1:8)
The word "consist" in our text (Col. 1:17 above) is translated from the Greek
word sunistao (soon-is-tah'-o). That word means: to make, to exhibit, or to constitute.
It was Jesus who created all things. He caused them to be constituted, or to come into being.
Before anything was created, He was.
And, "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." (John 1:3)
This same Jesus, Who "...being in the form of God...," "...made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men." (Philippians 2:6-7)
Jesus! Creator of all things, and Sustainer of all things!
The express image of God!
This same Jesus, came into the world to pay the ransom for our sins "in His own blood!" (Rev. 1:5)
Let us be quiet and stand before His majesty in awesome wonder!
Let us worship Him and praise Him!
And let us tell others of this Almighty God Who loves us enough to die for us!
