THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
A young man was playing golf with a pastor (not his own). At a short hole the pastor asked, "What are you going to use on this hole son?"
The young man said, "An eight iron, pastor. How about you?"
The pastor said, "I'm going to hit a soft seven and pray."
The young man hit his eight iron and put the ball on the green.
The priest topped his 7 iron and dribbled the ball out a few yards.
The young man said, "I don't know about you pastor, but in my church when we pray, we keep our head down."

12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

When faith is severely tested, prayer yields answers.
Jesus had just been confronted by the scribes and Pharisees. They had a tradition that no healing be done on the Sabbath. God had said, "the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work...." (Ex 20:10)
Jesus was showing them that healing is not work. It is the transition of grace through faith to supply need. It is a GOOD thing and not an evil thing to do on ANY day!
After the severe testing, Jesus had choices to make.
Thus He "went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.."
From our Lord, we should take a lesson in this matter.
When tested, pray.
When choices are to be made, pray.
How many of us take our testing and choices this seriously?
When testing and choices confront us, go to God in special prayer.
Then, continue diligently in prayer, believing.
