THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

A preacher was ill. He was so ill he couldn't preach Sunday morning.

His wife checked his temperature, but used a barometer by mistake.

When she took it out of his mouth, it said, "Dry and windy!"

Rev 21:6
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Do you ever feel a "dryness" in your spiritual life? Sometimes we have "dry spells," and friends, counselors or even church doesn't help. As the song says, sometimes we're "up on the mountain," and sometimes we're "down in the valley." But God is STILL GOD!

When we're "up on the mountain" we are filled and content.
When we're "down in the valley" we are dry and in need of God's personal closeness.

Sometimes there's a reason for our dryness: perhaps we've grown too independent, trying to accomplish things on our own power. God wants us to realize that HE is the "beginning and the end." Without Him, there would be no "water of life."

Sometimes we're engrossed in religion and forget that imperative relationship. Even saved people can sometimes have idols in their lives. Church itself can become an idol. Anything that comes between God and our personal relationship with Him is an idol. The brazen serpent was lifted up, not to be worshipped, but to be a means by which people were called to personal relationship with and utter dependency upon God.

It is not our religion we should lift up.
It is not church we should lift up.
It is CHRIST we should lift up!

When you are "dry" in your spiritual life, remember when God found you. You were down on your knees, begging forgiveness, and in total surrender. THEN you found the "water of life!"

There you will find it AGAIN!

Love ya,
Bruce
