THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

My wife, Ann, is a very good, and humorous, impersonator
of a homeless woman.

Once, I was guest speaker at another church for an
evening meal.
The person in charge of dinner arrangements happen
to know about Ann’s ability.
She asked her to do the impersonation during the meal.

Ann came out dressed in an old floppy hat, smeared lipstick,
a patched up dress, tennis shoes (with different color socks)
and, carrying a huge bag.

From the bag, she pulled certain items, and placed them in
front of selected people; then, told funny stories about them.

At the end of her characterization, she came over to me.
She said, “Ain’t you that pastor over at “....” church?”
When I answered, “Yes,” she jumped in my lap, and said,
“My Momma tole me ah could KISS you!”
And, she promptly smeared that lipstick all over my lips,
and left!

The pastor of the church we were visiting asked,
“Bro. Bruce, did you KNOW that woman?”
To which I answered, “No, did YOU know her?”
I could see immediately that his estimation of me had
slipped to an awful LOW!

A few minutes later, Ann came out dressed nicely.
Then I said to the pastor, “That’s the lady from awhile ago.
You didn’t RECOGNIZE her, did you?”

Matt 16:13-17
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi,
he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the
Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist:
some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ,
the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou,
Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto
thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

LIGHT from the WORD.

Who is Jesus to YOU?

The world calls Him "Teacher," "Prophet," "Priest," "King,"
and many other names.
But disciples (believers) know Him as: Creator, Sustainer,
Master, Eternal Judge, Redeemer, Savior and,
"the Son of the Living God."
One might interpret that last phrase as "the One and Only
physical image of the invisible God."
I believe that's what Peter meant.

It wasn't what others were saying that made Peter
comprehend.
It was by the revelation of God's Holy Spirit that Peter
could say, " Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."

You see, when someone trusts in and surrenders to Jesus,
God’s Holy Spirit reveals WHO He is!

Do YOU RECOGNIZE Him?

Love ya!
