THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
A little girl and her Mom were discussing the Sunday School lesson. The little girl said, "Mom, Jesus is now in heaven sitting beside the Father."
In the Sunday School book, there was a picture of a rainbow. Mom pointed to it and said, "Look at the beautiful rainbow that God painted for us."
The little girl said, "Just think, Mom. God did that with His left hand."
Mom asked, "Why would you say that honey?"
Little girl, "Well, my Sunday School teacher said Jesus is sitting on His right hand!"

Gen 17
1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

God uses many names for Himself in the Bible. Each one is a revelation of His character and being.
Here, God reveals Himself as "the Almighty God." The Hebrew is El Shadday (El Shadai'). The words mean God of all power and sufficiency. He is the OMNIPOTENT God -- all powerful. And since God is all-sufficient, He needs NOTHING!
God has already made a covenant with Abram, in Genesis 15, in which Abram tried to uphold his part of the bargain, but couldn't. Now this is an EXTENSION of that covenant, and Abram is invited to partake of God's power and sufficiency.
Now, if God has everything and needs nothing, what could He possibly gain from a covenant with Abram (or you and me)? His statement, "...walk before me, and be thou perfect," reveals His desire. God wants FELLOWSHIP! And God wants us to be like Him.
You and I were created for a purpose - to have FELLOWSHIP with God!
Notice that Abram "fell on his face" before God. Humbly, he submitted to God's will.
Are you submitted to God's will?
Are you surrendered to fellowship with God?
Is He constantly in your thoughts and desires?
This is God's will for Christians.
We may not BE perfect, but perfection should always be our GOAL!
Remember, God can supply all you needs in being what He wants.
Love ya,
Bruce
