THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

The late George Colman had a great sense of humor even in his last days. One day the doctor came by to see George. He explained that he had just visited a patient who had fallen down a well.

George asked, "And did he 'kick the bucket?'"

5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

Oh! What joys arrive in our hearts when we "wait" upon God and muse about our "expectation" from Him!

What we can expect from this world is hard knocks, adversity, difficulty, and ultimately death. And that justly so due to our sins.

But what do we "expect" from our Lord?

Continually we may come to the "throne of Grace" and God gives us "grace to help." We find it continually so because God PROMISES it (Hebrews 4:16).

Each day, along with the difficulties of life, we find solace in the presence of our Lord. Again, it is because He PROMISES it to be so with us when we walk in faith (Matthew 28:20).

Each day we find perfect admonition and direction in the Word of God. Again, it is because He PROMISES it to be so (Psalm 19:8, Proverbs 3:6).

However, because of our Lord, and because of His promises, we also have expectations beyond this life. We know that when we are old, ill and discomforted, He will come and be WITH us and comfort us (John 14:18).

We also know that when our eyes close in death, our spirits shall soar away from the body to be with Him (Ecclesiastes 12:6-7). Then, as we dwell in the "city not built with hands," we shall gaze on the beautiful face of our Savior, and we shall know Him, even as He knows us (1Corinthians 13:12).

Yes! Our "expecations" are from HIM! "Wait" upon Him. Muse upon His marvelous provisions!

Love ya,
Bruce
