THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

She was 92, partially paralyzed on her left side, and arthritis was really giving her some pain. She complained about it to her 72 year old daughter.

Her daughter said, "Mom, I know God has a plan, perhaps there's something He has in mind for you to do."

She said, "Well, I'll tell ya right now; I AIN'T gonna do it!"

Gensis 40:1-4
1 And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker had offended their lord the king of Egypt.
2 And Pharaoh was wroth against two of his officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.
3 And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.
4 And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them: and they continued a season in ward.

Perhaps the lady in the joke was thinking about her incapacity rather than her will to do what God wanted.

We have to realize that it is actually part of a continuing story.

WHY are all these things happening to Joseph?

God has a plan. He's ALWAYS got a plan. God uses the sin of man and works HIS plan.

Joseph has got to come to a certain position. That position is to be "in favor" with the Pharoah, so that he can "save" his family.

But a lot of people are involved in this plan. And God is USING them, and, yes, even their sinfulness, to put Joseph in the proper position.
For some reason which we aren't told, these two men "offended" the Pharoah. So he had them thrown in prison. Joseph is in charge of their lives. He assigns them their duties and has to account for their actions.

Did you ever stop to think that God has a PURPOSE for your life? ALL of your life?

All of the difficulties you face in life become experiences. Those experiences can become opportunities for you to minister to someone else. Maybe you can't interpret dreams; but you can tell how God has helped you.

Just remember when you face hurt in your life, it's there for a purpose. Look for those around you who are having the same hurt. Then see if there isn't some way you can minister to them by giving an encouraging word.

Tell them how God helped you through your hurt.

Love ya,
Bruce
