THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
The older I get, the harder it is to lose weight.
It seems my body and my fat have become good friends.
And it’s hard to separate them!

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

To have friends, one must be “friendly.”
The Hebrew for “friendly” is r’a’ (pronounced: raw ah’).
The meaning of this word is “to spoil,” or, “to ruin.”
Perhaps I differ in the interpretation concerning the first half of that verse above.
“To have friends, one must think nothing of self; but think of others.”
To me, that makes the last half of the verse more understandable.
“There is One Who is a Friend, and sticks closer than a brother.”
That One is JESUS!
He came to “spoil,” or “ruin” Himself for our sakes!
He yielded Himself to the death of the cross to win our friendship!
WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS!
Love ya,
Bruce
