THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><>

E-mails. You get 'em, I get 'em. Some are funny, some are informative. And some e-mails are just downright SCARY!

A pastor was in a hurry and e-mailed his regional director. The text of hurried e-mail read: "Wife hospitalized for surgery. Please send substitute for the weekend."

Now THAT'S SCARY!

Matt 27:35
35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

Sometimes we get in a hurry and don't explain ourselves very well. And all too often, people live their lives in a hurry, and do not stop to think about what they are doing.

The other day I happened to be speaking to a person who said he was a Christian. He mentioned the fact that Friday evening he went to "the boat" for supper, and talked about how good the food was.

I have difficulty believing someone would go to "the boat" ONLY for supper. But even if it is so, Christ goes with the Christian everywhere the Christian goes. Would we want to take Him to "the boat?"

Who would believe that people professing to have received Christ would be so careless about their souls. God shows through the crucifixion that our souls are of INFINITE worth to Him!

I shuddered last week when I read in our local newspaper that "Gamblers lost 2.1BILLION dollars at Louisiana's state-licensed casonos during the last fiscal year!" Now THAT'S SCARY!! Louisiana is already one of the poorest states in the USA. How much richer we would be if that money stayed in our state!

At the time when God met God to pay for man's sins, there men sinned by gambling for HIS clothes! They were so callous in their hearts as to dismiss this wonderful Savior Who was making atonement for their souls!

Therefore, the crucifixion was not a profitable event for them!

Is your relationship with Christ FUNDAMENTAL or INCIDENTAL? Are you living life too HURRIED to be FOCUSED on Jesus?

Love ya,
