THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

A missionary went overseas to work beginning a church. His organization sent him a 4wd truck! GREAT! Now, he could travel on the awful roads in this new country!
About 6 months later, the truck wouldn't start. He was not mechanically inclined, so he didn't know what to do. He tried several "would-be" mechanics, but they didn't know what to do either.
For 3and 1/2 years, the truck sat there! Then, just as the missionary was getting ready to go home on furlow for a year, a substitute came to take his place.
The substitute asked "What's the matter with the truck."
The missionary replied he didn't know.
The substitute went to the truck, raised the hood, cleaned the batter cables connected to the battery, and "BBRRRROOOOM!" The truck started instantly.
The substitute turned to the missionary and said, "You only lost contact with the power source."

Prov 24:30-34
30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.
33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

Is the church of Jesus Christ slothful today?
Consider the question. Remember the church is YOU!
The slothful man in the Scripture above had no REAL COMMITMENT to that which he owned!
The slothful man in the Scripture above had LAXNESS OF SERVITUDE for that which he was responsible!
The slothful man in the Scripture above had LOST CONTACT with the REAL Power Source!
How about you? Have you a REAL COMMITMENT to that for which you are responsible? God really OWNS the church. But He has put the responsibility for ministry and evangelism in the CHRISTIANS hands!
"YE are the LIGHT of the world...." (Matt. 5:14).
If we, as Christians, are truly COMMITTED to our Lord, it will show up in SERVITUDE! And that doesn't mean simple attendance and a tad of monetary giving once in awhile. It means involving yourself in ministry and evangelism IN and THROUGH the church.
When a Christian RESTS, he RUSTS!
Perhaps the real problem is that many Christians have "lost contact with the POWER SOURCE!"
When there is no LORDSHIP, there is no SERVANTSHIP!
The writer of the Proverb above says that he "considered it well.....received instruction." In other words he took a LESSON from what he had seen. Here's the LESSON:
A church full of apathetic, lacadaisical Christians will soon become EMPTY!
Ask yourself this question: If everyone in your church performed ministry and evangelism like YOU, what would your church be like?
Get CONNECTED!
Be a LIVEWIRE!
