THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

A man was sitting on a tack. It was hurting him.
He wanted some help. So he called a psychologist.

Psychologist: "Sir, the reason you are hurting is rooted in a childhood trauma. You need therapy."
That didn't work, so the man called a sociologist.

Sociologist: "You've got a problem and it is obviously the result of the kind of environment in which you grew up. Hurt is from an improper environment."
That didn't help, so the man called an economist.

Economist: "Money is the root of all hurt. Let me help you with your portfolio."
That didn't work, so the man called a minister.

Minister: "If you learn to praise the Lord THROUGH your circumstances, you won't hurt so much."
That didn't work either.

Then a little girl came along and offered a suggestion.
She said, "Mister, why don't you just GET OFF the tack?"

In this life, here on earth, we are all concerned with hurt.
The "tacks" of loss, sickness, and death concern us all.
The largest problem we have is getting "OFF" ourselves, and under Jesus' authority!

The "disciple," in our text above, is a willing student and servant of the Lord Jesus.>Br? It is impossible to be a willing student-servant if we are stuck on our SELF!

Jesus came to give meaning and purpose to our lives.
He came to give life more "abundant" (John 10:10).
We cannot know the more "abundant" meaning and purpose until we surrender to Him!

After we surrender to Jesus, we need to "bear" our cross.
We need to get involved in His ministry.

It is only when we lose our self, and surrender to Jesus that we find REAL LIFE!
"He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."
(1 John 5:12)

No. Being a disciple of Christ will not get rid of all the pain in this earthly life.
But, being a disciple of Christ does mean you will receive blessings daily.
AND, heaven is the end reward!

Get off the "tack": self!
Get under Jesus' authority!

Love ya,
Bruce
