THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Boudreaux was from South Louisiana. He traveled to Reno, Nevada once on a business trip. While there, he decided to go see a popular ventriloquist perform.

For over 30 minutes, the vintriloquist used his puppet to ridicule Cajuns.
Boudreaux had enough!

He stood up and said, "That's it! All you have done is make fun of Cajuns. I am a Cajun, and I happen to know we are as intelligent as anyone!"

The ventriloquist said, "I'm sorry sir, it's all in fun. I'm not trying to harm anyone."

Boudreaux said, "You hush up, I'm talking to your little friend!"

Isa 45:5-6
5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else.

Very interesting are the two statements made together by our Lord.
1st "I girded thee..." The word girded (in this verse) is used in the context of providing the belt for war.
2nd "That they may know..." This indicates that the reason for God preparing His servant for war is so that others will know that He is the ONLY God!

God's mercy and grace toward us allows for the privilege of being forgiven, saved, and granted a place in eternal glory. And the reason that God leaves us on earth, after being saved, is to tell others of Him!

Therefore, God "girded thee" (prepared you, His born again Christian servant) for the war with the world that identifies Him as the ONLY "LORD!"

The word "LORD" is translated from the Hebrew Yehovah. This was the same word which was used to identify God when He appeared to Abraham (Gen. 18:3).

In John 8:58, Jesus identifies Himself as that same "LORD," when He said, "Before Abraham was I AM." In other words, one might say that Jesus, The LORD, is revealed in the BIBLE. He is the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End, the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sustainer!

And, my Christian friends, the reason Jesus is revealed is to prepare His soldiers for war with the world. And that war is to help others know that He is God.

A good soldier will not enter battle without his/her appropriate apparell.
Know the Word to know Jesus!
Use the Word to reveal Jesus to others!
The Word is that with which God has "girded thee!" It is the Word that is the power of God on this earth!
Jesus Himself said, "Ye do err, not knowing the Scriptures or the power of God!" (Matt. 22:29)

If any man says that his god allows for gambling, pornography, or abortion, then that man is creating his own god, which is nothing but an idol. And that man has invited you to war with him using the Scriptures!

Love ya,
Bruce
