THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Sometimes, what we expect doesn't happen;
And what we don't expect does happen.

Two motorists had a literal head-on collision in heavy fog near the small town of Guetersloh, Germany.

Each was guiding his car at a snail's pace near the middle of the road because of the thick fog.

At the moment of impact their heads were both out of the windows when they smacked together!

Both men were hospitalized with severe head injuries.
Their cars weren't damaged at all and didn't have a mark on them.

2 Sam 9:3
3 And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet. ...
13 So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king's table; and was lame on both his feet.

THOUGHT_________________________________________________________

Mephibosheth was lame because of an error on the part of the nurse who kept him (2Samuel 4:4). She had dropped him when he was 5 years of age. No one would have expected him to attain a royal position.

Many are those who have trusted Christ; yet, they have been "dropped" by stronger Christians into whose care they were trusted for education and edification. But our Lord, the King of Kings, takes particular care of them. They are given a continual "feast" at His Holy table. God gives the unexpected.

Mephibosheth considered himself unworthy because he could not be of much use to the king. However, David considered him valuable. He was given a place at the king's table, and elevated to a noble position.

The love of God, through Jesus, affords us great privilege and honor.
Though we are of little use, He considers us valuable.
Our "lameness" does not keep us from a position in His royal court!

It is not our ability upon which our Lord looks.
It is our availability!

Though we may be "lame" in our feet, God provides ability through our tongue!

Let us be faithful servants.
As we are afforded continual feast at His royal table, let us continually speak of His mercy and grace!

Love ya,
Bruce
