THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
A young man had quit school and lived a very errant life.
One day the preacher came to visit him, and he got saved.
The young man was a night janitor for a local business.
He asked the preacher, "Can I live a good Christian life on $200 a week?"
The preacher said, "Sure, son - if you get a lot of help from the Lord."

The word "Ebenezer" means stone of help.
Samuel placed it in memorial of God's help in the battle.
The word "hitherto" means from this point.
The purpose of the stone was a threefold reminder.
As Christians, we should realize that God has helped us "from this point."
He has helped, is helping, and will continue to help "from this point."
Faith is realization that without God's help we could not cope properly with life.
"From this point" look to the past.
From the time you were saved, God has comforted your sorrow, given you hope in difficulty, provided healing in poor health, and given peace in turmoil.
"From this point" look at the present.
God is assuring you of His love, encouraging you in His work, and giving you joy - even in the most pressing adversity.
Now, "from this point" look to the future.
He has promised to "never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Hebrews 13:5)
As He has been, God shall always be.
He is concerned for your well being and is your "Ebenezer!"
Love ya,
Bruce
