I was raised in the country, and there are some "sayings" that just oughta be SAID. The reason is 'cause they reflect wisdom.
Country fences oughta be hog tight, horse high & bull strong.
Life is not about how high you climb, but how well you bounce.
Life is simpler when ya plow AROUND the stumps.
The trouble with a milk cow is that she won't STAY milked!
Don't skinny dip with snapping turtles.
Meanness don't happen overnight.
Words that really "sink in," are whispered not yelled.
Teachers, Moms and hoot owls sleep with one eye open.
Don't corner sumpin' meaner than you!
Forgive your enemies, it messes with their heads!

God's wisdom has been given to His people through the years. They have used that wisdom to reflect Christ in many symbols. The candy cane is one of those symbols.
The "J" reminds us of Jesus. If you turn the stick upside down, it looks like a shepherd's staff and reminds us of The Good Shepherd.
The candy cane is "hard candy," to represent the "ROCK" of our salvation, Jesus Christ.
The white part of the cane represents the purity and sinlessness of our Lord, Jesus.
Even later, in the 1900's an Indiana citizen added peppermint flavor, perhaps to remind us of "hyssop." Hyssop was associated with purification and cleansing. Jesus purifies a sinful soul and cleanses a degenerate heart.
True candy canes have 3 stripes of red winding around the cane. One red stripe is large, and the other two are small. The large red stripe represents the blood of Christ that was shed for our sins. The two smaller stripes represent those that Christ received at the hand of the soldier for our sake.
So now, you can tell someone the story of Jesus as you give them a candy cane.
Justify the "wisdom of God." Make every occasion a pulpit.
