THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS
<><><><><>
A lady shopper in a mall took a break for coffee and cookies. She sat down at the only unoccupied table and spread out her newspaper, taking a sip of coffee. Just then a man sat down at the table too.
She didn't acknowledge his presence, and reached for a cookie. The man also took a cookie from the small package. She GLARED at him. He smiled at her.
In a moment, she reached for another cookie, and he was reaching for another one also. Now she was REALLY glaring! But he just smiled at her.
The next time she reached for a cookie, there was only one left. The man was also reaching, so he broke the cookie in half and offered it to her. She snatched it out of his hand, stuffed it in her mouth, and glared at him again. He just smiled. Then he got up and walked away.
She was REALLY steaming! She decided the coffee break was over, and began to fold up her paper. That's when she saw HER bag of cookies!

Heb 4:14-16
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

The man in the humorous story above had GRACE. The woman had arrogant assumption. Coming "boldly" to the "throne of grace" does not mean to come arrogantly, but rather we are to come humbly.
The grace of God is sovereign. Our High Priest is "Jesus the Son of God." Christ has "all authority ...... in heaven and in earth"
(Matthew 28:18). Christ OWNS grace.
The grace of God is to be professed. If we have truly given ourselves to Christ, we are to make an open confession and live in public profession of Him. Christ is willing to SHARE grace.
The grace of God is sufficient. As a man, Christ suffered all circumstances we could suffer, and was tempted with every temptation we can face. He Who would DIE for our sins, certainly has full compassion for us. The grace of God is MORE than sufficient for all our needs.
The subjects of grace are we who are in NEED. We are sinners all, and sinners all the time. We are dying of the disease of sin and need grace to save us. We are in constant conflict with sin and need grace to "help" in every "time of need."
To come "boldly" to the "throne of grace" means to come with ASSURANCE that our Christ Who OWNS it is quite willing to SHARE it if we shall but PROFESS it.
As Christ owns grace, let us "own up" to having sin and need. Let us come to the throne of power, confessing sin, and pleading humbly for His help. There, we shall find more than sufficient the outpouring of His grace.
