THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

((Thanks to Norma for the joke this morning.))

A young lady was working as a hospital volunteer. She was assigned to bring a patient from a room downstairs to the exit. Arriving at the room, she found an elderly man, dressed, and a suitcase at his feet. She told him she had come to take him downstairs for dismissal. He said he didn't need any help.

After a short, bursting explanation of hospital rules from the volunteer, the man agreed to being wheeled downstairs in the wheelchair.

On the way, the volunteer, asked, if the man's wife was meeting him at the exit.

He replied, "I don't know. She's still upstairs in the room changing out of her hospital gown."

Eccl 5:2
2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

Ooooo! I have trouble with this one! Do you?

In the 1938 U.S. Golf Open, Ray Ashley hit his T-shot into the creek on the sixteenth hole at Cherry Hills Country Club. When he arrived at the creek, the ball was rolling downstream with the current, and was partially above water. Quickly, Ray elected to hit the ball from the hazard rather than take a drop. He missed. And missed. And missed. One hasty decision led to another, and another, and Ray shot an 18 on that hole!

Sometimes we get ourselves in trouble with a hasty remark, or a hasty decision.

When we are talking to others, let us remember God is LISTENING!

When we are talking to God, let us remember He KNOWS what's in our heart!

Be sure the mind is fully operative before engaging the transmission of the tongue!

Hasty words can never be recalled. They may be forgiven, but there are lasting consequences.

A hasty decision leads to future failure. It may be corrected, but it sure makes a mess to clean up first!

"For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:" (1 Peter 3:10)

Love ya,
Bruce
