THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

To look is one thing. To see what you look at is another. To understand what you see is a third. To learn from what you understand is still something else. But to act responsibly on what you learn is what really matters.

John 10:27-31
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one. 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

Last night we viewed THE PASSION OF CHRIST. I was reminded again of the viciousness with which we all have treated our Good Shepherd. There was not a place on His precious body that was not beaten, bruised, cut, and covered with His blood. The SERIOUSNESS of sin was vividly displayed on the body of our Savior.

Jesus said that He is the Good Shepherd.
Those of His flock will hear His voice.
Those who hear Him will also know Him.
And those who hear His voice and know Him will follow Him.
Finally, those who hear Him, know Him, and follow Him, will be given eternal life!!

Lost sheep, and wayward sheep cause the shepherd much agony. He SEEKS them and CALLS to them. He goes through briars and thorns to find them. He fights lions, bears and wolves for their lives. He even gives His OWN LIFE for the sheep!!

Hearing Jesus speak the words, "I am the Good Shepherd" last night reminded me of the Scripture in Psalm 100:3:

"Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture." (emphasis mine)

God came in flesh to live among the stench of sin. Yet, He lived above the influence of sin. With purpose and passion, He went to the cross. He fought the demons of hell for the lives of His "sheep."

Listen.
Do you hear Him?
Know Him.
Follow Him.
For He is the ONLY ONE Who has eternal life!

If we are truly hearers, let us then be doers.
