THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

A Sunday school teacher said to her children, "We have been learning how powerful kings and queens were in Bible times. But, there is a higher power. Can anybody tell me what it is?"
One child blurted out, "Aces!"

It is true of humanity that kings fight against kings. When one nation rises to power there jealousy of it and animosity toward it. It is the nature of sin within us.
Thus, when the people in power of the Jewish nation found that one Rabbi was very powerful in both healing and words of conviction, they held a meeting to decide how they could "destroy Him."
But Jesus is not of our ilk. He is perfect, and without sin. There is no jealousy in his heart toward people of power because He Himself IS all power. Neither does he fear those with power, because His is greater. Therefore, Jesus did not withdraw himself because of their power. He did so because of timing. The timing was not yet right for His crucifixion. And when it became time, He did NOT withdraw.
Yes. There is a "higher power." And only ONE - JESUS! He is Creator, Sustainor, Eternal Judge, Savior and "the Lord that healeth thee" (Exodus 15:26).
Leprosy, blindness, deafness, palsy, withered arms, lame legs, even DEADness, Jesus healed them ALL! But the greatest power of Christ is displayed in the cleansing of sin-sick souls. Not only does He cleanse them when they come in repentant surrender, but He also keeps them until the time of eternal joy in heaven.
Let me remember this morning that my Jesus is THE "higher power." He can heal my physical and spiritual hurts, and He can KEEP me until the time He delivers me to heaven! All He requires is that I be of the "multitude" that "follows Him."
The One and ONLY Higher Power is JESUS! Let me follow Him. Let me trust Him. And, let me PROCLAIM Him today!
