THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

Little Timmy was bad. He received a spanking and was put in the corner.

A few moments later, he asked, "Dad, am I a canoe?"

Dad said, "No, Timmy. You're a boy. Why do you ask that?"

Timmy said, "Well you're always saying 'a man ought to paddle his own canoe!'"

The awful scourging by the whip which Jesus received was not because of His wrongdoing. For He "knew no sin!" (2Cor. 5:21)

That beating was received for our sakes! "He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him."

Each time the whip descended and struck His body, the pieces of bone in the end of the whip gouged great gashes! Thirty-nine times that whip struck His back!

Imagine the pain! Can you think of it without having tears?

In love indescribable, God gave His body to be chastised for our peace!
Can we know such love and not give Him all that we are?
"With his stripes we are healed!"

Today, O Lord, before I go about the business that I must, let me beg of You forgiveness for my many sins which caused this gruesome beating!
Help me remember Your chastisement for my peace!
And let me return tonight, to thank You for Your great love which makes me whole!

Love ya,
Bruce
