THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

Some experiences are horrifying! Twelve-year-old Scott had just tried "snuff" for the first time at seventh grade camp. He was REALLY ill!
The counselor asked, "What did you learn about the experience?"
Scott said, "I won't try it again! But, please don't tell the director, Mr. Bill."
The counselor asked, "Why not? God knows you tried it. What's the difference between God knowing it and Bill knowing it?"
Scott said, "God won't tell my parents!!"

Gen 19:30-36
30 And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
31 And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:
32 Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.
33 And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
34 And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our Father.
35 And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.
36 Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

Some things in the Bible are horrifying! Nevertheless, they are truths, and we can learn from them.
Lot saw now that cities full of people had the potential of affecting a genuine walk with God. So he left this "small one," Zoar, and went to the mountain as the angels had originally suggested.
But Lot and his family had been too long in Sodom. His two daughters had already been too influenced by the immorality of the people. No longer did they rationalize by meditation upon God's Word; but, now they rationalized and decided by what they were accustomed to. We are to use our MIND to worship and server our Lord. Jesus said, "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment." (Mark 12:30)
Did you know that you can put a frog in a boiler of cool water; then, put the boiler on the stove, turn on the burner, and the frog will stay right in the boiler and boil? He grows accustomed to the heat. And when he realizes it's too hot, it's too late! His ability to jump is GONE!
Christians, take care to not become accustomed to the evil of this world. Keep a CLOSE walk with God by daily praying and studying His Word.
A lack of the Word, and allowance of culture will reduce the ability to make right decisions!
The Bible tells parents to diligently teach their children the Word of God. See Deuteronomy 6:4-9. Talk about the WORD all the time! Sure, children (especially in teen years) get tired of it. And they want to be like other kids, but they will learn TRUTH from God's Word.
Sometimes it takes horrifying truths to keep us on track!
