THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

In the comic strip PEANUTS, Linus and Charlie Brown were sitting down talking about their plans when they grew up.
Linus said, "When I grow up, I'm going to be an humble little country doctor. I'll live in the city, and every morning I'll get, climb into my spsorts car and zoom into the country! Then I'll start healing people. I'll heal everybody for miles around!"
Then in the last frame of the strip, Linus concludes, "I'll be a world-famous humble little country doctor!"

Phil 2:8
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Most of us are a little like Linus. When we think of humility, we still have some pride mixed in.
OH! Let my soul look to the Dear Savior! Jesus was God in glory. He did not have to "be found in fashion as a man." But He became a man for our sake. He became man to propitiate God's anger toward sin and offer the forgiveness of God for the sinner.
And when He became a man, "He humbled Himself." He was "obedient" to the laws of God; He was obedient to the laws of man. He became the epitome of meekness: power under control; self-disciplined; humble.
In the upper room, Jesus stripped Himself of His robe, and in servants loin cloth washed the feet of His disciples.
Having been arrested at night, kept up all night in an illegal and mock trial, He did not bring accusation against His molestors.
Beaten with a "cat of nine tails," mocked by a king and given a false robe and crown of thorns, He didn't become angry. He simply accepted His position in the circumstances.
Placed on the cross, nails piercing His hands and feet; He cried, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."
I was lost in sin and headed for an eternal hell. Jesus HUMBLED Himself for me!
What AMAZING GRACE!
What MEEKNESS!
What HUMILITY my Savior had for my sake!
The vision of Jesus giving Himself in love for my sin, humbles my soul!
Let me crucify my pride at the foot of His cross!
Let me rest there and learn from God Incarnate the lesson of true humility!
And let me carry that lesson into every moment of life!
Love ya,
Bruce
