THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

The drill sargent had been on extended leave because he had surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation time.

On his first day back at work, he was marching the troops. The platoon needed to pause, but the sargent who had not been practicing his job, forgot the command "Mark Time!"

So he quickly marched to a position in front of the platoon, and turned to face them. Marching in step, he called, "Pretend to go but don't, Pretend to go but don't, Pretend to go but don't....."

Dad told me once, "You can find something useful in virtually every verse in the Bible."

To tell you the truth, I wondered about some verses. Then, while reading the story of Joseph, for about the 300th time, this verse really stood out!

Pharoah's dream often becomes a living experience for many Christians. They "pretend to go but don't!" I've found it to be so in my own life. God gives us "fat kine," and we allow "ill favoured" ones to take it away.

An "ill favoured" prayer life will quickly gobble up closeness with God!
An "ill favoured" Bible study will eat away knowledge of holiness!
An "ill favoured" church attendance will erode strengthening friendships!
An "ill favoured" evangelistic outlook will cause missing opportunities to lead others to Christ!

Without paying attention to spirituality, it soon corrodes into apathy.

Let us continually feed our souls with fresh food from God!
Feed continually on His closeness through prayer.
Feed on His Word, the "bread of life."
Feed on attendance and ministry.

Then we shall not only be useful to God, we shall also be beneficial to others.

Love ya,
Bruce
