THROUGH THE BIBLE IN THREE YEARS

DAILY DEVOTIONS

HI!

<><><><><>

A young girl, at age 13, had just started a new history class in school. Her teacher assigned them "current events" reports for each week.

Each evening, before bedtime, she would read the paper and write a note about some article.

One evening, when she finished reading the paper, she ran into her room and began cleaning it up. Mom wondered what was happening, and asked, "Honey, what are you doing?"

The young girl said, "Well, I just read an article in the paper where a woman was arrested for running a disorderly house!"

1 Cor 14:40
40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
(KJV)

<><><><><><><><><>

Paul was writing about keeping down confusion in the house of the Lord during worship time. His comments were directed toward keeping the worship time in an orderly manner so that any lost person who visited would be able to focus upon Christ.

Certainly, this passage of Scripture applies to our church worship services. But it also applies to our personal lives.

As Christians, we are to be people of "order" and "decency." It is our joy, as well as our duty, to proclaim Christ in all that we do. And we certainly cannot reflect our Lord in our lives if they are disorderly.
In America today, this Scripture certainly applies to us personally. There are SO MANY things to do! There are so many "attention getters" and "recreational" things that the ole devil uses to put disorder into our lives. And the ole devil can make those distractions seem very important too.

We have band practice, ball practice, dance lessons, karati practice, cheerleading practice, etc, etc. And, yes, some of those things ARE important at times.

However, when they interfere with showing an orderly life FOR Christ, their importance is severely diminished. Let us not allow those things to take us away from a designated "quiet time" with God each day. And let us not allow them to keep us from attending regularly scheduled worship times with the "body of Christ."

Love ya,
